Not too long ago, 西雅图-based 地平线 Air flew CRJ-700s for the 阿拉斯加州 Air Group. Then, 地平线 announced they would get rid of the CRJ-700s 和 only fly a fleet of 庞巴迪Q400s)。此后不久, 阿拉斯加州 announced they would absorbthe 地平线 brand。现在, 阿拉斯加州 Airlines 与 天幕 在其某些西海岸航线上飞行庞巴迪CRJ-700支线飞机。

The 阿拉斯加州 Air Group felt there was still a need for a 70-person regional jet to serve some of their west coast destinations, resulting in 阿拉斯加州 Airlines contracting with 天幕 to fly 22 daily CRJ-700 flights between 西雅图/Portland 和 Burbank, Fresno, Long Beach, Ontario 和 Santa Barbara.

Interesting enough, 天幕 is leasing the CRJ-700s from 地平线 Air 和 flying them for 阿拉斯加州 under the new brand. The regional jets will sport the 阿拉斯加州 Airlines livery with a smaller “Skywest” on the fuselage. The interior will have blue leather seating, to match what you might find on an 阿拉斯加州 Air Boeing 737. However, the service will mirror what you would expect from flying on 地平线 Air (yay free beer 和 wine).

地平线 Air employees are trained to work with the CRJ-700, but since they will now be operated by 天幕, there will be some operational changes that have required employees to go through some re-training. “More than 2,200 employees at 阿拉斯加州, 地平线, SkyWest 和 our partner vendors have been trained,” Lindsey explained. “集成了40多个计算机系统,并确认了400多个过程–确保安全和合规性,以及为我们的客户提供无缝产品。”

I would imagine there could be some hiccups with so many changes happening at one time for the new 阿拉斯加州, old 地平线 和 the addition of 天幕. However, 阿拉斯加州 has a good track record of keeping people informed 和 trying to make the changes unnoticeable to their customer. Although many of us airline geeks will notice a change of aircraft type 和 livery, most people just want to get from point A to B as safe 和 cheaply as possible.

Being a 西雅图 native, I have mixed feelings seeing the 地平线 brand slowly going away. 阿拉斯加州 needs to be able to compete 和 keep themselves a strong independent airline. They have weathered many economic downturns without having to sell or merge. It is a love/hate relationship 和 it helps that 阿拉斯加州 Air’庞巴迪Q400和CRJ-700的涂装看起来非常好。

Not too long ago, 阿拉斯加州 Air Group announced that the 地平线 livery would be replaced by the 阿拉斯加州 livery on the 地平线 Air Q400’s. However, the 地平线 brand of service (aka free beer 和 wine on the plane) will stay. This is only the third aircraft type (Boeing 737 和 MD-80 being the others) to see this 阿拉斯加州 Airlines livery.
